Giuseppe Verdi 1813-1901. Among composers of genius, Verdi is perhaps the last complete, self-fulfilled creator, absorbed in his art, at one with it and a man who dissolved everything in his work. Gioacchino Rossini, 1792-1868, occupied an unrivalled position in the Italian musical world of his time. His best known works include The Barber of Seville and The William Tell Overture.
